Between September 12 and December 1, you may report and update the progress you are making toward completion of your HPEO Unit options. The deadline for reporting progress is December 1. If you need to report activities beyond December 1, please ask Mr. Clark (mclark@tntech.edu) orJames White (jawhite21@tntech.edu) for assistance.
During the progress reporting period, when you log in to your HPEO account, you will see thefollowing screen:
Click anywhere on the unit you wish to update, and an updating screen for that unit will appear. Specific directions for each unit option appear below:
Freshman Options
To update the 20 hours of activities, do the following:
Enter the date. To change the DATE of the activity, click on "Change" and click the correct date of the event on the calendar.
Enter the LENGTH of the event in hours in decimal form to the nearest tenth of an hour.
For Event Name, enter the name of the event.
For the Description box, write a PARAGRAPH describing the event and your opinions and reactions.
Click "Save Event" when you have finished entering the information.
To update "Faculty/Staff Assistant":
You and your supervisor need to keep track of your work hours on your own list. Keep track of dates and hours of service.
From time to time, place an updated note in the "Summary of Progress" box, noting how many hours you have worked, and any other pertinent progress information.
After updating the box, always click the "Update Summary Paragraph" button.
When you have finished your 20 hours of service, click the "Ask Supervisor to Mark as Fulfilled" link. This will send an email to your supervisor asking for verification that the service is complete.
To update "Serve on ASG Committee" (Freshman Unit 3):
When you have completed your committee service for the semester, write a paragraph describing your committee service, in the box labeled, "End-of-Semester Paragraph."
When you have finished typing the paragraph, click the "Update Summary Paragraph" button below the box.
Your committee chair will validate and approve your committee service for the semester.
To update the Participate in 2 campus organizations (Freshman Unit 3): For EACH organization meeting or event you attend:
Enter the date. To change the DATE of the event, click on "Change" and click the correct date of the event on the calendar.
Enter the LENGTH of the event in hours in decimal form to the nearest tenth of an hour.
For Event Name, enter the name of the event, and specify which organization.
For the Description box, write a sentence or two describing the event.
Click "Save Event" when you have finished entering the information.
Upperclassman Options
To update the Big Sib option (Upperclassman Unit 2):
On your own, keep track of your contacts with your little sibs, and report them on the form provided by the Big Sib chairs.
Submit the completed form(s) to the Big Sib chairs, as directed, by the agreed deadline.
On Online HPEO, type a paragraph in the "End-of-semester" box summarizing and reflfecting upon your semester of Big Sib service.
At semester's end, Big Sib chairs will mark that unit as "Fulfilled" after reviewing the submitted forms.
To update Other Options in Unit 2 (Upperclassman):
You and your supervisor need to keep track of your service hours on your own list. Keep track of dates and hours of service.
From time to time, place an updated note in the "Summary of Progress" box, noting how many hours you have worked, and any other pertinent progress information.
After updating the box, always click the "Update Summary Paragraph" button.

To update Chair an ASG Committee (Upperclassman Unit 1):
At the end of the semester, in the "End-of-Semester Paragraph" box, type a summary paragraph of your achievements as chair.
You do not need to do anything else.
The Steering Committee chair will review your service, and verify your successful completion of the semester as committee chair.
To update the Officer for a campus organization (Upperclassman Unit 1): For EACH event that you participate in:
Enter the date. To change the DATE of the event, click on "Change" and click the correct date of the event on the calendar.
Enter the LENGTH of the event in hours in decimal form to the nearest tenth of an hour.
For Event Name, enter the name or type of the event.
For the Description box, write a brief description of the event.
Click "Save Event" when you have finished entering the information.
To update Coordinate a Special Project (Upperclassman Unit 1):
From time to time, place an updated note in the "Summary of Progress" box, with pertinent information about the progress of your project.
After updating the box, always click the "Update Summary Paragraph" button.
When you have finished your project, click the "Ask Supervisor to Mark as Fulfilled" link. This will send an email to your supervisor asking for verification that work on the project for the semester has been completed.
To update "Serve on two ASG Committees" (Upperclassman Unit 1):
When you have completed your committee service for the semester, write a paragraph describing your committee service, in the box labeled, "End-of-Semester Paragraph."
In your summary, write TWO separate paragraphs, one describing your service on EACH committee.
When you have finished typing the paragraph, click the "Update Summary Paragraph" button below the box.
To update Unit 3 Options (Upperclassman):
From time to time, place an updated note in the "Summary of Progress" box, describing progress on your project or presentation.
After updating the box, always click the "Update Summary Paragraph" button.
When you have finished your project or presentation, click the "Ask Supervisor to Mark as Fulfilled" link. This will send an email to your supervisor asking for verification that work on the project for the semester is complete.
